Markout Information

In preparation for natural gas service, the property owner is responsible for marking the location of all privately-run underground lines on the property using flags or marker spray, including, but not limited to:

• Sprinklers
• Septic Systems
• Buried Oil and Propane Tanks
• Underground Wells
• Water and Gravity Sewer Lines
• Invisible Pet Fences
• Electric or Water Lines for Outbuildings

Markouts are used to show the contractor that something is buried underground. Without your property being marked out, we may not be able to install your natural gas service. Elizabethtown Gas will mark out public utilities including cable, electric and phone. You can also hire a private contractor to mark your property. Below is a list of contractors who can perform this service.

Markout Flag Color Coding:

Red = Electric, Yellow = Gas/Oil/Steam, Orange = Communication, Blue = Water, Green = Sewer, White = Proposed Excavation.
