Energy Efficiency is easy! Below are just a few basic tips that will help you start saving energy at home (or work).
- Replace heater and air conditioner air filters once a month.
- Spotlight your home office or school workspaces to use only the light you need.
- Avoid opening the oven door to check on what’s cooking – when opened, the oven temperature drops as much as 25 degrees and then has to use more energy to heat back up.
- Run ceiling fans counter-clockwise to circulate warm air and clockwise to push cool air down.
- Install energy-efficient LED light bulbs, which use 5 times less energy and last up to 15 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
- Open your window coverings for natural light and warmth in the cooler months and close them in the warmer months.
- Unplug electronics when they’re not in use – even if turned off while plugged in, they still use energy.
- Air dry dishes instead of using your dishwasher’s drying cycle.
