Engineers Discuss Gas Distribution and Jobs in Engineering with High School Students
Elizabethtown Gas engineers specializing in civil, technical, environmental and mechanical engineering met with 30 local Hillside High School students to discuss gas distribution in support of the school's science curriculum.
John Eggolt, Evelyn Galante, Mariana Maldonado and Kevin Escobar shared their education and career trajectory to inspire a new generation of engineers and potential ETG employees. "It's an honor to support and positively influence students early on as they start thinking about their college and career paths, especially in a field that I'm personally passionate about," said John Eggolt, intermediate engineer.
For many, this was the students' first exposure to often under-represented female engineers. Hillside High School has a diverse student body that mirrors ETG staffers, so it was a great opportunity for students to see themselves reflected in a field they are pursing.
Hillside High School is less than a mile from ETG's headquarters and currently offers a few engineering classes. In the coming year, the school is poised to roll out a robust engineering program.
